D28 Action for Equity is excited to partner with Natasha Capers of the Coalition for Educational Justice and Matt Gonzales of NYU's Education Justice Research and Organizing Collaborative for a teach-in on Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education (CRSE). We'll give an overview of what CRSE is and some recent history on the struggle for CRSE in NYC. We'll hear first-hand accounts of trying to change practices in schools and we'll have discussion and planning time for you to decide on your next steps in changing practices in your own school.

Admissions Forum held by members of CECs in D2 and D20

Admissions & Diversity Committee Meeting: Admissions Forum

Date: Tuesday, February 15, 2022

Time: 7:00 PM

Description: The co-chairs of the CECD2 Admission & Diversity (A&D) Committee would like to invite families from District 2, District 20, and all of NYC to an Admissions Forum & Engagement.

Preliminary Agenda: We expect to discuss High School and Middle School admissions procedures, screening, lottery numbers, recent CECD2 resolutions, G&T, and inadequate community engagement.

  • Co-hosting will be invited members of CECD20, which passed MS and HS resolutions analogous to our District.

  • CCHS (Citywide Council of High Schools) members will also be guest presenters.

  • We hope to hear from NYC families from all boroughs.

  • DOE Office of Enrollment was invited but declined to attend.

  • D2 will be recording this event and sharing with the DOE.

Final agenda may vary based on final participants and announcements. Families of all districts are welcome, but if the number exceeds 500 attendees, note live streaming on YouTube will be available.
